How to find apps

Hey, so earlier this summer i started messing with linux but my intrest kind of died out until just now. I booted the machine back up and got eth0 up and working, and now i want to update mozilla firefox. My problem is that I can't find the directory where firefox is installed. I'd like to delete the old version before installing the new.

Anyone know an easy way of locating firefox on the machine?

if you have an earlier version of firefox, it might just be a directory in your home directory...delete the firefox directory and it's gone. then you can install the newer version.
