How to Extract a .xml.bz2 file?

I'm trying to extract a wikipedia database dump in linux (slackware 10.2 to be exact). I've tried all kinds of ways to extract it, but it won't work. Even the line they sugest (found here: dosn't work.

Any suggestions?

God bless,

the site says:
mwdumper can read the .bz2 files directly, but importDump.php requires piping like so: bzip2 -dc pages_current.xml.bz2 | php importDump.php
Have you substituted 'pages_current.xml.bz2' for the actual name of the file?
