how to execute windows .exe files in linux

Hi all, I have installed Fedora Core 2 on my system and configured samba. when i want see the windows .doc files or if I want to execute .exe files, I am unable to do so. System is asking me to associate an application. I don't know which application I have to associate for executing a windows .exe file in linux. Can anybody tell me for the windows .doc,.xls,.exe,..etc to use in my Fedora core 2 system, what applications I have to associate.Hoping an early response from the group.

WISHING ALL A HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY

You don't run Windows executable files under Linux, not natively anyway. You can look for a Linux equivalent of the software you're trying to use, or you could try WINE. What was it that made you think you could run Windows executables under Linux?

For .doc and .xls files, you can definitely open those with OpenOffice.org (a free office suite), but other office suites or standalone word processors/spreadsheets may be able to open them as well.
