Question How to enlarge my Linux partition

There are two OS on my computer. When I install RH 9, I just give it a partition of 5GB.
Now, I find that my Linux partition is too small to install more softwares, so I want to enlarge
my Linux partition. How can I do this work?

Here is one more problem.
When I install a rpm package, there always will be the problem of lack of some other packages.
And when I install what it required, there will be the problem again and again.
So, is there any tools that can check what the rpm packages' deps are and which packages my OS
lack of.

Hi there westspider
I use Yum on a Fedora Core2 box. it seems to be pretty good at deciding what dependancies there are.

yum -y update [package_name] or (no brackets)
yum -y install [package_name]

package_name can even be replaced with a part name and it will give you all the packages that have that substring in it.

The -y switch just answers yes to the upgrade/install when its finished being downloaded. Just leave it off if you just want the package. Obviously there are many other switches...
Oh and it still installs RPM's, it just appears to manage them better.

Im not sure if it installed by default on red hat systems.
maybe rpm -Uvh yum ;+P

Regards
Allan

What File System do you use for your other Operating System? If it is NTFS you should use PartitionMagic.

You can move partitions without problem. But better if you boot your computer with the software of making partitions.

The very first thing is to backup your data as there is great chace of losing your data. You could use GNU Parted or Partition Magic for resizing your partition.

Yum is an automatic updater and package management tool for rpm based systems. It automatically computes dependencies and figures out what steps need to occur in order to install packages.
