How to enable out of office feature in Postfix
hi,
I want set out of office messages for some users who is travelling for some period. I am using Fedora and postfix. Please let me know how to configure out of office with post fix. Thanks Manjula |
Why don't you want to set up procmail and temporarily make a rule in ~user/.procmailrc that passes a copy of each letter to a simple script to send mail that 'You sent message to <To: contents> regarding <Subject: contents>. Unfortunately, <she or he, configured per-user> is out of the office.' to <Reply-To:/From: contents>?

Code:
man vacation |
To continue this. Is there an implementation to allow the user to set this themselves through their email client? like Thunderbird?
As it stands, if a user sends an "Out Of Office" setting in, say Thunderbird, then there Thunderbird needs to be left on the entire time. Compared to Gmail or Outlook/Exchange this is pretty primitive. Is there a way for Thunderbird to hook into procmail or some other implementation? Maybe Squirrelmail has this.... PS Ahhhh http://codepoets.co.uk/postfixadmin_squirrelmail_plugin and http://postfixadmin.sourceforge.net/ This might not have been available when OP posted.... |
I know that thread is old, but...
DaveQB mention that would like to see solution for Postfix which implement "Out of Office" state (like in Exchange) where user can change own state by mail client (i.e. Thunderbird). Here http://www.mshsoftware.com?ptr=1014 can be found application which can do that. Quote from website: MSH Out of Office Assistant is a complete solution for managing and administrating Out of Office state in Postfix and Sendmail environment. It is a client-server solution, so indyvidual users can change own OOF status with mail client (like Thunderbird). There is no need for user to login to shell to change anything. |

I know Roundcube has an Out Of Office plugin that uses vacation on the backend. Works well. Now we need a way to implement server side mail filtering through Thunderbird et al. |
