How to download Mplayer for Linux running Red Hat release 6.6(Santiago)
Hello all,
What are the steps I need to take to download Mplayer (preferably from the command line)? I am running the following; Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server Release 6.6 (Santiago) Kernel Linux 2.6.32-504.16.2.el6.x86_64 Gnome 2.28.2 I have been to the Mplayer website and have attempted to download the program but have not had success to get it up and running. I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much. |
mplayer and the multimedia software like xine and gstreamer and the GUI front end to mplayer
are in third party repos ( RPMforge and RPMfusion and SCL ) PS. Mplayer is a TERMINAL ONLY PROGRAM!!!! there is NO gui !!!!! you run it by typing commands into the terminal NO point and click!!!! now there are some front ends to it the GNOME "Gnome-mplayer" is a GUI for Mplayer and the QT based GUI called "SMplayer" mplayer takes a LOT of other programs so STEP #1 is this a paid for Registered and licensed install of redhat in order to install software this MUST be a licensed and PAID FOR install !!!!!! the standard 1 year license is $299 per year or install the FREE clone CentOS but unless YOU MUST THE OLDER 6 install the CURRENT CentOS 7.0 or RHEL 7.1 |
The atrpms repo has an RHEL 6 mplayer package that includes the gmplayer GUI front end.
