How to download and install mplayer

Dear all members,
I want to download and install mplayer in order to play audio+video files. can sombody help me out to do so.

1) go to the MPlayer website and click on the link that says "Download"
2) read the README file included in the file or on their website

there you go, hope that wasn't to confusing. If you have any specific questions with any problems you run into wile following the directions MPlayer provides, please feel free to ask.

maybe try and find a pre-compiled mplayer package for whatever distribution you're using if you don't fancy doing it yourself. Packages are out there for just about every major distro AFAIK
