how to do moving background?
i have this drempel background on my windows patition and it really rocks. it gives a constantly moving background, i guess it sorta randomly morphs an image to create the effect, making for a rather psychadelic coolness. does anyone know how to do this on linux as i do not like to be stuck using windows nor do i like windows looking better than linux.
by the way you really should try it, and at high speed it is rather exhilirating |
try (as root or do SU):
/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/(screensavername) -root This will run the specified screensaver as your wallpaper. I like flurry, its similar to drempels. Its much more efficiant that Windows, it will usually run with almost 0 lag, just a little processor being used. At kde-look.org, this is a screensaver that copies the mac "fading image" effect, if you like that stuff. |
ok yeah thanks, works good. one ting i cant seem to do though and i would really like to is when running eterm on enlightenment i cant get it to show the same screen saver background. i tried using -O and viewport mode but it just shows thru to what is there without the screensaver. im guessing it cant be done but it would be cool if you told me it could.,

never mind i guess, the enlightenment makers explained that it cant be done yet but work is underway for it

This is really cool, but I was wondering, is there anyway so that the screensaver doesn't go over my icons.
