How to do LiveWebcasting using Linux as platform


hello all, I got a new client whose requirement is Live webcasting; streaming live content of some occasions/ceremonies to the web. well I do have Mandriva2010 as my official OS. What kind of tools/software I need to use for this project? Any one can help me to give a guideline for this..

Thanx a million in Advance for any kind of help

check out web based broadcasting using a browser, also can be done from a mobile phone, I've never looked for anything linux native

I have googled al ot and found VLC and FFmepg. but there is nothing a professional suite yet.

Many podcasters do it.

The Linux Outlaws described how they do their show in a recent episode. It's been a while since I listened to it, and I can't remember whether they described in detail how they do the live stream, but it might be a starting point.
