How to create a NAS server with Linux
 

Hi there,

I was wondering if there´s a way to create a NAS server with Linux to store files and to replace a couple of file servers running Window$.

I´ve heard about some hardware based solutions, but I want to create and configure a linux machine plenty of hd space as a file server in my network, accesible from both Windows and linux clients.

Is there a way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use NFS and SAMBA as file sharing daemons and use Webmin to manage it. Thats pretty close to a packaged NAS box.
