how to configure oracle10g in ubuntu10.04
I have downloaded and successfully installed oracle 10g express
edition,but i cant configure it, when i executed this cmd
"/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure" showed an error "bash:
/etc/init.d/oracle-xe: No such file or directory" pls help me to
configure it,started using ubuntu few days before only, i dnt like to
go to windows for using oracle.

look for the file by hand. If it is not in /etc/init.d, then it may be in /usr/local/etc/init.d or somewhere in /opt. Oracle have an Ubuntu repository hidden deep in their website, you should use it instead of installing it by hand. As for the configuration, the Web-Config UI tend to fail on Ubuntu, but the database itself work fine.

thanks for ur reply..
i cant find that file oracle-xe..
as am having only dialup i cant download it from repository..
suggest me anyother option to configure it
