i have just installed FC4and i want to use gaim
i have configured the proxy settings and i want to use yahoo messenger
i created an account with my onscreen name and password
but when i tried to connect to yahoo an error message appeared
it was something like 'your proxy server does not allow 5050 tunneling'
i had seen a 'show more options' setting while i was creating my account
and there i found 'Pager Port' set to port no 5050.i changed this to 80 as have to use port 80 to connect to the proxy server of my university.
after this i again tried to connect.The above error wasnt displayed this time but still gaim could not connect
Can someone please help me with this problem...

If you just installed FC4 you probably need to open this port in your firewall.

You can use the distro tool to allow the port that yahooMsg requrire
# system-config-securityleve (this is in my FC3)

as far as i can get from the message it says that the proxy server that i connect to forbids port 5050 tunneling so even if i unlock that port it wont do any good.But still i may be wrong...
