Here's how I clone a Linux install.

1. Attach a 2nd disk to the original machine
2. Use a free tool like HDClone to image copy the 1st disk to the 2nd one.
3. Remove the 2nd disk from the source computer and install it into the target.
4. Boot target... you're done.

Doesn't work for Windows, of course, because the Windows Registry binds a specific OS install to specific hardware (plus the licensing restrictions of course). Linux doesn't have any of these artificial restrictions so this procedure works like a charm. Easy, too.

I don't know HDClone. Do you know if it is able to reinstall Grub?

On some PCs, like laptops, it may also be difficult to remove the disk...
