How to change the colour of the background for the Today pane in Thunderbird Calendar?

Maybe a micro-question but, much as I love Thunderbird 78.10.0 email client on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, I find it a minor pain that it isn't immediately obvious which pane (see what I did there?) is today.

You can change the colours associated with different calendars but I don't see how to change the background colour used to highlight the today pane.

On my system it is an anaemic beige. A nice mid blue or whatever would be good.

Advice very welcome. Thanks.

Well, probably not quite what you're looking for, but nevertheless

Options‣Calendar‣Accessibility‣Optimize colors for accessibility

Other than this, see this question @support.mozilla.org, this thread @mozillaZine and the Thunderbird theme API docs.

Thanks but no, not really what I wanted.

It doesn't seem to be possible to do what I want... A (minor) pity.
