Unhappy how to change mplayer subtitle color?

what i want from linux (for now) is as simple as this:

i want media player with yellow subtitles in correct charset, placed under movie

*EDIT* (just spent an hour googling how to place them under movie and i found on my own about the charset)...*EDIT*

i have kaffeine and mplayer, now the problem is:

in both i can place subtitles under movie, in kaffiene i can even get them to be yellow, but if i seek in movie a little, kaffeine freezes.

mplayer, on the other side has no such issue apart from that i am not able to find a way how to make the subtitles yellow.

so it's either what i want with no seeking, or quite what i want with wrong color. and that's just the reason why i switched from win to linux: i've had enough of having not exactly what i want.i solved every single issue with linux (mainly thanks to LQ.org) apart from last maybe 5 and this is one of them.

for the love of the mother of the god, please don't tell me mplayer cannot change subtitles color, i refuse to believe it there is always a way in linux, that's what i believe.

Have you tried asking the mplayer dev list (assuming they have one)?

well i do not put too much trust in it, i asked there about subtitle encoding problems, but never solved it, until i found LQ.org... 10 min. of browsing and i was all set... if only it would be so easy with this one.

i mean, even if mplayer isn't capable of this seemingly easiest thing under sun, can't it be done somehow else? i as a newbie wouldn't know, but maybe freetype config can be changed somehow to display fonts in yellow, or maybe there is possibility that the font itself can be modified... i don't know

Need to get through to one of the actual mplayer developers instead of the support drones, and submit a feature request.

Try maybe http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/mailman/li...player-dev-eng

or

#mplayerdev for developers

well, i was on their mailing list for a while and it looks like it is possible in latest cvs version, which means that sooner or later it will make it's way to proper version...

yeah, you're right... it's as everyone "geek enough" to use linux is considered to understand english well enough not to need subtitles...

And its not like we have any huge demands.
All we want is an easy way to set the size of subtitles, its colour, its code page, its possition to go bellow the movie!!!
