How to change default file manager in Recoll?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi.

In Recoll, if I Right Click on a result and select Open Parent Folder, it asks me what fm to open it with. The default is Dolphin. I'm on MATE so don't use Dolphin. I get a dialog box but don't see any way to edit the options.

I looked around some config files in .recoll and in .config/Recoll.org but nothing stands out.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks.

Uncheck Use Desktop preferences by default I guess?

Already tried. Makes no difference, even though it should.

I can't even edit this bit - it's greyed out.

I mean, of course you cannot edit this as long as Use Desktop preferences by default is checked. If you uncheck it, can you edit the value for inode/directory?

That too was previously tried. Unchecking that box makes no difference.

When in the applications dialog, you need to select both inode/directory and inode/directory|parentopen (the latter is used for "Open Parent" and differs because the default setting tries to select the appropriate file when starting the file manager).

Then click "Exception to desktop preferences"

Enter the command you want to use

Click "Apply to current selection", then "Close" and Ok in the parent dialog.

This should do it. Else please open an issue on https://framagit.org/medoc92/recoll/-/issues

If your file manager can take an instruction to select a specific file from the command line, you can do things separately for each inode/directory entry, and use the selection command for the |parentopen one. For example, with dolphin, the following is used: dolphin --select %(childurl) %f

Kudos to you, medoc! That fixed it. :)
