dscherry LQ Newbie Registered: Sep 2003 Location: Florida Distribution: Debian (Knoppix) Posts: 1 Rep:	how to call xdialog from a daemon Hi - I'd like to send an alert (or msgbox) to my X display (kde) session from an event driven daemon running in the background. It seems that Xdialog or kdialog would be perfect, but they only work if the script is running in the same X session. Does anyone have a suggestion how this can be done without using a monitoring program from the X display? The daemon is a python script, if that matters, using a system call to launch the alert. this is on Debian 2.6.0-test4 (again, shouldn't matter) TIA Dan
