how to burn an dvd .iso image using k3b

hi all. I downloaded fedora 8 and now have both the rescue and fedora 8 as iso images. I don't want to revert to windows and have to pay for nero. well I tried using k3b. I selected to burn image from the data dvd section after dragging and dropping the fed 8 .iso file. I also lowered the buffer settings in the advanced menu...well I thought the project worked but alas...when I go to the dvd I have an fedora8.iso file. obviously that is not what I want I want to see the install directory that has the images folder etc bla bla bla (whatever is in the main or top folder). but as of now all I have is the .iso file which I cant boot off of. can anyone direct me how to do this if in fact I am doing it incorrectly? again I did not copy but instead selected to burn the iso image to dvd, which I though "expanded" (for lack of a better word) the .iso file so it could be booted off. please don't make me go back to windows and use nero....

Hi.

Haven't used K3b for ages, but for simple things like this, I'd just use the command line tools.

Code:
dvdrecord -dao --eject driveropts=burnfree dev=/dev/DVDDEVICE --data /path/to/ISO/image
(replace DVDDEVICE with hdc or dvd or whatever device you're using)

Job done.

  • Tools [menu] -> Burn DVD ISO Image...
  • Click on the folder icon in the "Image to burn" frame and browse to the ISO file, select it.
  • Click "start" button
  • Follow prompts for inserting media etc.
