Question how to apply a patch from arch on slackware?

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38120
I want to apply this patch on my slack machine, but hard to figure out how to do it, maybe because I don't have that installer or maybe because I'm stupid, maybe both hehe
so, I need it for my clickpad because all other patches and configs didn't work
thanks!

Without even looking at that link, what I can tell you is that you can apply the patch, only if the patch is made to patch files within the source code to whatever program you are trying to install. Comes to mind though, but are you trying to patch source code, or something else?

Well you'd need to download the xf86-input-synaptics 1.5 source, untar it, copy the patch and .conf inside it and do something like:

patch -p0 < synaptics-clickpad-support.patch

from within the source dir.

You may need to experiment with the -p level (check the manpage) but usually -p0 or -p1 works.

Then you need to recompile the source (grab the slackbuild from your local mirror) to create a package and upgradepkg it.

The .conf should go here: /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf

You can ignore the PKGBUILD file, that's arch particular.

Also, please note that we have our own slackware forum on LQ here:
