Exclamation how to apply a patch?


Hi,

I want to apply a patch to my existing kernel tree on the arch/mips/kernel/process.c --

how do i do it?! :-)

Or are you trying to do something else, and I'm not understanding the question?
If so, you may want to most some more specific information.

Assuming that the diff file is in /usr/src and the linux kernel source code is in /usr/src/linux, then you do:

# cd /usr/src/linux
# cat ../patch.diff | patch -p1

what should the patch be called though- i have the contents of the diff file -- what should i call it?

i get the following error:
