How to access Linux clipboard file?

Is it possible to access the linux clipboard file from a command prompt like: ls > clipFile
I can't find the name of this file if it exists.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you're using KDE, the clipboard histroy file is ~/.kde/share/apps/klipper/history.lst.
