when i try to install starcraft on whith wine i get the error

(start button not found)

thats because starcraft required DirectX to run, you need wineX, not wine.

wine baisacly only supports a very small handful of programs like notepad, wordpad, and a few other things that you really dont need.

if you know enough about win98SE and *nix you can hack wine to work, but sadly im not at that point to help you.

as for games though you will need wineX

Pretty cynical view. Unreal Tournament runs just fine on WINE (ok, so there's a linux version, but that's not the point...) as do a few other older windows games. Unless you only want to play the latest action blockbuster then WINE is a good solution.
