How much space

Should I put aside for my server? Just purchased the Linux software so I want to run the server and desktop on this one 120GB had I just received back from Westen Digital, because the first one died. I have a copy of WinXP on the first 100GB drive so I figured I have linux on the second. Heard good things about LInux so I decided to run it also. Thanks

a very full Red Hat install could be like 3GB or so. SuSE may be larger. You could go as low as 1.5 GB with lots of apps. You will need room for swap space twice the size of your physical RAM and then whatever space you need for added applications and file storage.

Ok so I decided to just split the drive into two partitons 60 GB each now here is where things don't make sense. I used the Western Digital Data Life Tools to partition and format my drives, problems with that was it wouldn't allow me to select the table I wanted which I figured would be fat 32 it only alloweed a NTFS table. Then when it was done it now says "Data life is now copying all files from the boot drive". Is it doing both of these, beccause it recognizes I have WinXP on my other 100GB drive? If so will this be a problem installing Linux I went withthe Mandrake version.

Thanks again

I don't know for sure, but I think no matter what format is put on these partitions, the Linux install should be able to overwrite it.
