Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS working, including the MIDI

It took a while to build and install the correct drivers though.

Both ALSA and OSS work right out of the box with Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft.

See my hardware specs in my signature for details about my sound card.

I've never gotten my sound chip working fully with any linux distro in the last 5 years.

Most stuff works but typically running skype or gizmoproject will kill the sound for all other apps.

However, Mandriva 2007 now has all sound working on my pc. To say I'm gobsmacked is an understatement.

I use Slackware and Fedora 5, and have never had a problem with sound out of the box, other than the first time I tried Slack 10.2 and didn't at first realize I had to run alsamixer.

In Debian etch, got alsa working with no hassle. Everything works, with almost any distro I've tried. Took no time (just netinstall of etch and it works).

I noticed this post originated in 2003 and the availability of sound drivers have improved dramatically since then......

Only issue I have seen with sound is when experiencing with TV-Tuners, which I am having today.

Not all tuners are the same....
