Unhappy how many partitions?


HI:
I need help to install linux 6.1 red hat.
My trouble is in the disk druid.
I have one operating sistems(windows 98---15Gb, linux--5Gb).
how many linux partitions need and how writtted?
----only have 6 years old-----

If this is your first install, I would suggest just using one partition (actually two, one for swap). Make one partition equal to what you have in actual memory (64megs if you have 64 megs of RAM), or more if you want, though I don't know how effective it is. Make your second partition for whatevers left over and mount it as your root partition ( / ). this way you don't have to worry about the different sizes that you'll need.

Agreed. If you're not that familiar with partitioning and partition management, go with just a swap partiton and /.

Using a 20GB hdd you probably get the 1024 cylinder issue, so you probably will have to create a small partition (12mb) as first partition and mount it at /boot.
