how is .vnc in home dir created?

I am configuring vnc (realvnc) on one of my servers - brand new linux install today - basically a clean swipe...I want/need vnc on this server so I can remote desktop to if from my windows machine...
question is I dont' seem to have the .vnc directory in my home/naloi...how does this get created? Do I manually create it and the xstartup or what?

any assistance is appreciated...
Natalie

it gets created by the vncserver if it doesn't already exist.

btw, check out nx / freenx... kicks all sorts of stuffing out of basic VNC.

thanks! also just needed to run vncpasswd....

so what bells & whistles does that other package have? you say...freenx?
realvnc has been "real" nice to me - just like being at the console :-) but I am always open to new options

The architecture is lovely, no service running on the server apart from SSH, session management, timeouts, integration, shared directories / sound / printers... basically a very Remote Desktop kinda experience. very nice.
