How install grub to boot up Vista ?

I have here a laptop with Vista installed on it.
The user did some stupid things and Vista won't startup no longer.

My guess is that the MBR is damaged or removed.

I'm now trying to get grub installed on it, to boot Vista with the Grub-bootloader but I'm not very succesfull at the moment.

Can someone help me install grub ??

I have a fedora-distribution dvd from which I now am in command-mode. When I launch grub, by giving the command 'grub' I give the command :

grub-install hd(0,1) but he does not know this command.

On the HD there is a first partition (hda1) with OEM from PackardBell, and a hda2 with Vista installed on it.
(got the info via fdisk)

EDIT : I already gave GraphicalBootLoader a try but booting up still gives the same startup error :
boot selection failed
error code 0xc000000f

To boot that thing from grub (in the situation), you really will need to install Linux. Can grub fix the mbr?

I don't know :-)

I hope by installing linux, grub sees the Vista-partition and is able to point to the startup-directory of Vista.
To install linux I need to delete the partition where PackardBell has installed it's "own software".
