There are three easy ways to handle logs.
1) If you are the system administrator, and you have reviewed the logs and now want to empty the log file, use this command:
/dev/null > /home/proxy/log/access.log
2) Read the documentation on logrotate. Set up logrotate to rotate the logs after a specified number of days, of at a spedifiec file size. Logrotate will compress the file (make access.log.gz), and leave an empty access.log. Refiew the access.log.gz files when you have time, then delete.
3) Review the log. If there is nothing worth keeping, simply delete the log. Then immediately create a new file with this command:
touch /home/proxy/log/access.log
