How do you specify a username when connecting via FTP

I need to know how to specify a username using FTP, otherwise it automatically uses my linux username, and this is what happens..

Code:
ftp releases.mozilla.org
Trying 216.165.129.141...
Connected to releases.geo.mozilla.com.
220-
220-
220-Welcome to TDS Internet Services - mirror3.mirrors.tds.net FTP service.
220-
220
Name (releases.mozilla.org:lyle):
Then when i try to download it results in....
Code:
530 This FTP server is anonymous only.
ftp: Login failed.

Use the command
Code:
ftp name@example.com
That should work. Although, the error you received is that the server only accepts anonymous connections, so use
Code:
ftp anonymous@example.com
Of course, in both examples, example.com should be replaced by the actual server name!
