How do you make Firefox store data completely in RAM?

I've noticed that when I'm browsing with Firefox and I stop to read a webpage, I hear my hard drive and fan stop spinning and everything goes silent. However, when I open a new page, or even just click the Back button, everything revs up again and my hard drive light starts going crazy. I believe that Firefox is reading/writing to the cache and history when it does this. As I'm using a netbook, I don't want to waste power waking up my hard drive every time I click on something. Is there a way to force this cache completely into RAM and only write to disk when I close Firefox?
