How Do I start NetworkManager?
I have the icon in my system tray, but it tells me that networkmanager is not running....??

As root issue the command
service NetworkManager start Now to make it start up automatically after a reboot then use this command to set that. chkconfig --level 345 NetworkManager on Brian1 |
Look what it tells me...

Is it installed?
Missed your sig saying you have Suse so not sure how to check for that. I am mostly a Redhat user. Also the chkconfig tool is mostly on redhat as well. Not sure if present on Suse. Brian1 |
Yeah Im runing Suse 10.1 and it is installed (checked YAST) but the thing is that I remember using it before I formated... But now I cant find it anywhere.... and the command doesnt work...

I am not a Suse user and don't use NetworkManager so I have no more ideas. Not much more help.
Good luck Brian1 |
Well at least you tried.... what program do you use to connect with your wireless?
|
I mean, even if you dont use Suse, what is the name of your connection manager? For your wireless device?
|
NetworkManager is for Gnome. KInternet is for KDE.
|
you can use networkmanager for kde too
|
Glad you got it all figured out then. I'll continue to use KInternet with KDE and NetworkManager with Gnome though, since I have both working perfectly that way.
|
I cant even start any of these under kde...?? Do you only type kinternet?
