Hi All,
Currently I have a server setup to let me use my linux desktop via (ssh &) vnc. It is configured as a service (as opposed to xinetd) and has hardcoded username:display names in it's /etc/sysconfig/vncservers file. That was fine to start but now that I have more and more users sharing the box I want to have it display the XDM login box instead.
Here's what I want,
1. VNC Viewers connect to the box. They should be prompted with the gdm greeter.
2. As users connect, I want Xvnc to allocate a dynamic display
3. When users disconnect, their desktop should be closed and discarded - free up my memory please.
I know this can be done with inetd... but... is that the only way to use xdm?
I have already enabled xdmcp in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
I have already restarted gdm
I have already restarted my vncserver (service vncserver restart)
I can still login with my hardcoded users/displays but no others.
Any help is appreciated.
