how do i set up an local apt respository on centos 4.2 server

Hello guys,
I need to install a local apt respository for our companies network. Does any 1 knows how to do that. I have dumped all the rpms in the directory (visible to the web server) and have generated the packge list nd base directory. using genbasedir command. Also i have updated the source.list on the client machines to fetch rpms from this respository. But unable to install packages from it.

It would be really helpfull if ny 1 can post the solution here.

Regards
Rohit
