how do i limit a users space ?

Quick question.
i am doing some virtual hosting for some friends websites. they have ftp access, and web folders.. etc... how do i set a limit on how much space they can have on my HDD ?
i know i could do it by having a seperate partition for all of them... but gee, that would be a little much to set up.
any simpler way?

thanks

'quota' will do what you want. There's a mini-HOWTO about it on tldp.org
