How do I install this printer?
Hello everyone.
I must have connected a Canon BubbleJet BJC-250 to my Linux Xubuntu 8.10.
But every time I try to print something, so the printer does not respond.
It is set in an LPT port, and the computer can find the printer when the printer is on, so it's probably not something with a plug to do.
I have both looked for drivers by searching (it found none), and I've tried a PPD driver, but it does not work even if it is for my model.
How do I get the printer to work?

Please supply some more detail!!
For example, when you installed it using the cups webpage, was the printer detected?--ie did it appear on the list in the "Device" dialog?
Also, which driver did you select?
Does that cups page now show that the printer is installed?
Did you try a test page?

When i installed the printer with Cups wepage, it found the printer and a driver for it. It says that the printer are installed succefully.
I try all available drivers for my model. I don't try a testpage, but i'm try to print a document in Abiword.

I'm running out of ideas, but please humor me with some specific questions.
First, did the printer specifically appear in the "Devices" dialog? This dialog will typically contain a variety of generic names, plus any specific models that the system has detected. I need to know exactly what you selected in this list.
When setting up the printer, were you ever asked for a password?
How many choices of driver did you have, and which one did you select?
When installing the printer with the cups webpage, do a test page there.
the easy way to get these answers is to simply remove the printer and re-install it.

yes I think the answer is the password.
so lets cheat
open a terminal and get root powers with either
Code:
su
or sudo su
then issue command to bring up browser such as ...konqueror...firefox....etc
now go to that localhost address...but this time when you complete your add printer stuff...you will not even see a username and passwd

Yes, but....
When I use the cups web page--if I don't have the right privileges, it will pop up and ask me for a login and password.
