How do I install Debian drivers?

I'm still very new to Linux, so bear with me. Very simply, I have a piece of hardware which comes with a CD containing drivers that supports several versions of Linux and I would like to install them. I just don't know how. I'm using Kubuntu 7.10. On the CD I found the drivers folders then found the debian folder (I am suppose to use debian right?) and there are a few files inside. How do I install them? If you need anymore information let me know.

Assuming that the drivers in debian's folder are actually debian packages (could be tarballs with installation instructions), then in kubuntu, as root, you could install the driver using:

dpkg -i /path_debian_folder/driver_package.deb
However, given the fact that kubuntu is based on debian, one may think that packages will be portable, but is not allways true, packages may not be compatible between distros, meaning that the driver you have on the CD could not be compatible with the system you've installed.

Since you're not saying what files are in debian's folder (text files, tarball, precompiled .deb, etc..), we can't give you more details, if you want to, you can type a list of the files contained in that folder. Also, you could look for a file called README or INSTALL, normally, there you'll find information needed to install the drivers.
