how do i install and get libdvdcss running in linux?


i can't get libdvdcss installed on my mandrake 10.1 to be able to play dvds on linux. i have not been able to get anythjing installed and running on linux but i like linux and really don't want to go back to windows.....PLEASE HELP!!

Get it in rpm form.
http://rpm.pbone.net
Search for libdvdcss and look for mandrake 10.1 or mandrake 10.x in the results.
Follow the link and download the file.
Open a terminal, cd to the dir where the libdvdcss rpm is, su to root and type

rpm -Uvh libdvdcss*

This should install it for you.

Next time you can use urpmi. If you install the xine or mplayer packages from the PLF repository, libdvdcss is automatically installed.

thanks for that info, found it this morning after doing a search on google about locating installing etc

would like to add
if you copy the file to floppy ( its only 27kb )
you can add that floppy
to the list of install media
in the Mandrake Control Centre

which I did as I had 6 computers to do
and have now bookmarked that site
