Question How do I get Hotjava browser to work?

Heya guys. I'm having trouble installing Hotjava Browser 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.10. It seems like a good browser, and i LOVE testing browsers, so i thought i'd give it a go.

Well, i don't know how to get the .sfx file to work. Any ideas anybody?

Talk about Blasts from the Past!

HotJava (including the "latest" version, HotJava 3.0) is wildly obsolete.

If you want to install it, however, you'll need to:

1. Download a copy of Java 1.1 from http://java.sun.com (the current version is Java 6!)

2. Follow these instructions (pay particular attention to the "chmod +rx" part):

http://java.sun.com/products/archive...all_linux.html

'Hope that helps .. PSM

I have no idea where to find a download for Java 1.1...

Jeez! I thought that HotJava browser had been discontinued recently! So much for them creating their own default browser for their OS lol

Actually, with HJB being so old and un-updated for so long, I don't wanna use it... seriously though, it looks like IE3 or something. Then again, it was around with IE4 and Netscape 4.3... Thank you for the help Paul =)
