How do I enlarge fonts in the GIMP?

I've googled and read every Gimp tutorial I can find and can't find the answer to this (it's probably really obvious to somebody):

I'm trying to make a text logo in the Gimp. I've selected Century Schoolbook, plain and italicized, but I can't figure out how to resize it like I can in a word processor. For instance, if the default size is 12 pixels, how do I enlarge the fonts to 18 pixels? If I rescale the layer or use the Zoom function it gets all blurry.

From: http://docs.gimp.org/en/ch01s02s02.html I see the following, but I don't seem to have these Tool Options:

<quote>
The second generation Text tool is an enhanced combination of the old Text tool and the Dynamic Text plugin. Now all options are available in the "Tool Options": font, font size, text color, justify, antialiasing, indent, spacing.
</quote>

Does anyone know of a Gimp user forum somewhere on the web?

If this is the wrong place to post this question can the moderator please move it?

TIA,
Siri Amrit

I don't have any arrows. Nothing to adjust for size. I think maybe I'm missing some components in the Gimp.

What I've just done is, wrote the text in OpenOffice.org, exported it as a .pdf file, opened that in the Gimp, scaled it, and saved it as a .gif. It's a clumsy way of doing it.

Solved!

I had to double-click the T (text) button to get the menu. I was only single-clicking on it.

Thanks for your help.
