How do I emulate loopback adapter behaviour in wine

I have some specialised windows software (called SimaPro, but that's probably irrelevent to solving the problem) that I'd like to get running in Linux.
I know it works because the demo of the programme runs mostly ok using wine.

My problem is that the full version differs from the demo in that it is a multi-user license with a client and server.
To get the client to talk to the server on the same machine in windows one simply installs the microsoft loopback adapter. Without it, the client can't find the server complains vehemently and closes.

Anyone know how to get wine to emulate this loopback behaviour? Please - don't force me to work in That Other Operating System

Thanks

p.s. Running Ubuntu

I cannot express how great a tragedy it would be for me to have to use that other operating system.

Is anyone even got a similar problem, or is what I'm trying to do so unusual as to be a unique problem? Doubt it.

I'll post one last reply to pop this thread back up to the top of the pile.
If no-one has a clue after that, the worst will come true.
