How Do I Disable The Checking Of CD Drive From Bootup?

I got ubuntu 8.04 and I went into my bios and couldn't find the option to disable the checking of the CD drive during bootup. I want to diable the checking of the CD drive to speed up boot time. Is there a way to do this? Is it possible to disable this feature in services?

This is not a service, it is the boot order. You can change this in your BIOS settings, but I don't recommend doing that, since if you have any difficulties later on, and need to boot using a rescue cd, you'll be in deep doo doo!

Irishbitte, thanks for the reply. But, in case my computer crashes, can't I just go into the bios and enable the CD check?

Also, I can't find a CD enabler in the bios. Weird.

Hmmm. Very strange. What kind of machine are you running?

These machines usually have a Phoenix based BIOS, so the Boot Sequence should be located in the first screen(or second, haven't been there in a while), right under the list with the disk drives
