how do I boot from an External SCSI CDROM, the BIOS does not see this CDROM

This is an older laptop running Fedora Core 4.
It has 2 PCMCIA slots.
It has PCMCIA-to-SCSI card with a SCSI CDROM drive attached.

The BIOS does not see this CDROM.
Once FC4 is up and running, I can access the cd with:
mount -t udf,iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom

So I need FC4 to start the PCMCIA and SCSI services.

But I want to avoid booting FC4.

With various Live CDs in hand...
The main question - How do I directly boot from this SCSI CDROM?

The hard disk does not have much space left to copy files from the CD.

saikee - I would appreciate your advice.

Your BIOS needs to support booting form PCMCIA devices. If it does not, you need to flash your BIOS. Typically, flashing is done from a floppy disk. I don't know if your laptop is old enough and has one, so you will need to research this further.

Regards,

Brandon

Sorry, I cannot do that.
This is an old Compaq laptop, Armada 4220T.
I have searched the Compaq repository for any BIOS flash update that supports PCMCIA booting. No luck.
