how do i add a local dir as YAST installation source?
 
ive added it through the change\add installation source.
but search wont find the RPM's and it wont automatically resolve dependencies...
is there something im missing?

Sounds like you are running SuSE? if you are and you have a fast internet connection why dont you add ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1 as an install source then disable the other install sources so that it defaults there. But
If you have a directory full of rpm's you can add this as an install source but then again you should at least temporaly disable the other install sources so that it defaults to your directory. I prefer the ftp way though cause it is all there.

ok, you can have multiple install sources, they just have to contain the YAST package database, which you can generate according to this guide:
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/02/yast_instsrc.html
disabling the internet source wont automatically enable the local dir..
anyway, im using the local dir because the stuff on the official suse site is outdated (like Gstreamer 0.6??, crippled xine, and lots of other missing\bad packages)
