how do I access and LVM from an external drive

I retired a laptop drive and installed a new larger drive. The olde drive had LVM space. I did not use LVM on the new drive. I thought that I had copies of the olde drive content, but I might be missing some files.

I've added the olde drive into an external USB enclosure. I can tinker and mount all of the several ext3 and ntfs and fat32 partitions. How do I enable read access to the LVM space. It was more than one file system if I remember.

When I connect the usb enclosure, all of the partitions mount and open nautilus windows. I'd like the LVM space[es] to do the same thing.

Cheers,
~~~ 8d;-/ Dan
vgscan to find volume groups on your drives.
vgimport VGName
Possibly you'll need to vgexport VGName first.
vgchange -a y VGName
Then mount it.. not sure how LVM is done on Ubuntu but on RHEL the device name is something like /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00. So mount /dev/foo/bar /mnt then browse /mnt.
This seems like it would be easily automated
Code:
On USBdrive connected:
    For each partition
        mount under /media
    Scan for LVM
    If LVM found
        create /media/VGname
        Import volume group
        for each file system in group
            mount under /media/VGname
Am I missing something?
Any ideas why UDEV does not do this already? It nicely creates /media
folders and mount NTFS, FAT32, and EXT3 file systems automatically.
Puzzled?
