how do connect wine to the internet


i was trying to use google talk within wine but it wouldn't work do to it not being connected to the internet how can i connect wine to the internet so i can use the program

i am never switching back to windows

Wine out of the box uses your existing network interface: there is no special setup needed. However, looking at Winehq: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...estingId=33102 it appears that Google talk doesn't run well under wine.

what about any other program that uses the internet and has no software to improvised nor is it cross platform

the fact that any other voip software that is easy and free to use i prefer skype since it's cross platform, easy to use, but it does have its dis advantages, only 2 people can do a video conference and thats all i think of are disadvantages

but same thing happens in windows sp i don't care

i have decided that it's not google talk that i want to work in linux under wine i have decided that its orbit downloader that i want to run and from what i have experienced trying to install it, it works like it would in windows only that wine doesn't connect to the internet and now it doesn't catch any streaming videos i also can't find software that is as easy to use as this is

As I said before, other programs that connect to the internet and that work under wine do not need any special configuration. To see if any particular programs work under wine or need special configuration check the apphq database.
