how can i use azureus with the shell, no GUI

Does anyone know how to use azureus with the command line only(no gui) since i have a server without X windows running 24h/day, it would be wise to have it download some movies in addition to just being a web server.
Thanks in advance.

When I e-mailed the authors of Azureus two years ago about this, I was informed that the command-line interface for Azureus was "only experimental". Indeed, I had some trouble with it; certain commands (such as the one to stop a torrent without deleting it) didn't work. I'm not sure if the state of things has changed since then but I would hazard a guess at "no", since Azureus's development seems to be (in my view) mostly geared towards the GUI and improving the transfer algorithm.

You may wish to investigate the possibilities of using a different, more lightweight BitTorrent client on your non-GUI machine.

Just for the record, I'm going to assume that the "movies" that you are downloading are independent and freely distributed films, such as "Blue - A Short Film" and not copyrighted material. If you had been discussing copyrighted material (which I'm sure you mustn't be), I don't think the administrators of the forum would give your post a warm welcome.

You could just use a plugin for ease of use if you plan on using it remotely or through a browser.

Swingline, etc.

Now how do you install Azureus without a GUI?

Well, last I checked, there's a download for just the JAR and whatnot. That would skip you around the installation process; you just download all of the necessary files, extract them to an arbitrary directory, and run the JAR from the command line. 'course, the software does have to have command line support to do that...
