Question How can i run Google-Chrome as user?

when i try to run google.chome from the applications menu nothing happens.
when i try to run from terminal it shows:

Quote:
sh-4.2$ google-chrome
[6009:6009:19900757483:FATAL:zygote_host_impl_linux.cc(137)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Aborted
what can i do?

please tell us what distribution, version and gui you are using (that mite be useful information).

also, please post the output of this command:
Code:
ls -l /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox
edit: try this:
Code:
chmod 4755 /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox
chown root /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox
ls -l /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox

i'm using slackware 14 and xfce

Code:
bash-4.2# ls -l /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14056 Sep 25 08:47 /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox
bash-4.2#
even after chmod and chown the result is the same

actually when i did chown after chmod it reset the permission bits for some reason.

try doing chmod again... the bits should look like:
Code:
[schneidz@hyper ~]$ ll fir0n
-rwsr-xr-x. 1 root schneidz 0 Nov 8 14:52 fir0n

--no-sandbox

I wasn't able to get it working by correcting the permissions; however, turning off sandboxing did enable Chrome to start:
Code:
google-chrome --no-sandbox
We use secure Linux; I can't imagine sandboxing is necessary anyways.

Me, too! I wonder why.
This fixed my problem, though. Thanks!
