How can I reset k3b to default

Haven't been using k3b for long, and I somehow lost the project view , now it a pain the the a$$ to use. Does anybody know how to switch it back to Project view or completely return to default.

Well, it's hard to know what you did, exactly, but I've just opened K3b and will tell you the various ways I see to move the internal windows around.

First, go to the Settings menu and make sure that "Show Project View" is checked in the first place. If it was already checked, move your mouse below the directories window and see if you get an up-down move arrow. If so grab it and pull it up to extend the project window vertically to a more viewable state.

If it was not checked, the project view may appear detatched from the main window when you check the "Show Project View" checkbox. If that happens, use the "Maximize" button on the detatched window to reattach it to the main window, and then the tiny little "arrow" button where the minimize button for that window section would normally be, to "dock" it among the other windows, so you can see them as well. Each visible window section has its individual controls, so you can arrange them as you like. with respect to the other windows.

It's more confusing to explain than it is. If you look carefully at an open K3b window while reading this, it should make sense :) .

Hope it helps.

Hey Motub...
thanks a ton..
I had the same problem not with K3B but with quanta. All my windows were split and I didnt feel like looking at its face. Now all the windows show up in the main window. Thanks again

I've had the same problem with Quanta but I cannot solve it. The problem is that ultimately there is no re-attach button to reattach one half of the program (editor, tree views etc.) to the main program window. I have had no problem attaching and detacthing various seperate windows - for example the editor, the tree-view, the structure view etc. (with the tiny up-arrow for 'detatch' and down-arrow for 'dock') - and all the other ideas suggested.

In otherwords, basically I am one tiny up-arrow short of of a 'full dock'. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Correction - in last message should read:
"I am one tiny 'down-arrow' short of of a 'full dock'" - the down arrow is for docking

can't you delete all the k3b's config dir? it should be in your home dir, or maybe in /sr/share/apps/kde...

I like drastic methods... ;) :D

Thanks for the suggestion - I'm referring to Quanta rather than K3B. I've now tried a few things: Now I do get a small arrow to dock the floating window. However, now when I click this, the program freezes (crashes). So I tried reinstalling the program, but after re-starting, the windows are in the same states. So I was trying to track down the configuration files. I have two problems: KFind just crashes when trying to search the .kde folder. Using locate quanta, throws up 1000's of entries in the terminal window - so is not much good (the man locate page doesn't tell how to limit the results ???). So I'm a bit at a loss. Any ideas of where the user configuration files for Quanta are stored?

but wait....

tried one more thing... I foundthe file 'quantarc' in the '/home/../.kde/share/config/' folder. I deleted it and now the program is back to normal... so a bit of a drastic solution, but while I've lost my settings, at least I can work comfortably again. Thanks for suggestions.

OK here is the EASY way to do it. Get the main k3b window at the top of your screen, taking up say half the screen. Get the project window at the bottom of your screen. Drag the top of the project window up to resize it, and let it go when it is inside the main k3b project window. Bonza chagonza, the project window has been swallowed up by k3b again.
