hello, im new here, i'm using mandrake linux for only a week.i know nothing on linux.what i want to know is ,how can i manage my hdd such windows have.u have the hdd icon then go to every files u want,or go to other partitions to distribute your files. i want to know if the any chance i can do that.tq

What do you mean? Can you explain more clearly what you are looking for, and what you are trying to acheive? What do you mean "distribute your files"?

Linux has a heirachical file system. There is one root directory, and all other directories are sub-directories of root. Partitions are "mounted" transparently, that is you can't see them as separate "drives" through the file system. For example, /home can be on its own partition, drive or even remote and the user doesn't need to know.

Check out /etc/fstab to see what partitions you are mounting at which points on your system.
