Question how can i install openoffice


hi

i tried to install open office from synaptic package but when i marked the package the following error message occured
openoffice.org:
Depends: openoffice.org-core (=2.0.4.dfsg.2-7etch1) but 2.0.4.dfsg.2-7etch4 is to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org-writer but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org-calc but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org-impress but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org-draw but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org-math but it is not going to be installed

help is welcome

Can you post your /etc/apt/sources.list file? It sounds like you might be running a mixed repository system.

hi try this,
Down load openoffice.tar from this site
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html
and run these commands.
tar -xvf openoffice2.4.tar.gz/bz2
cd openoffice2.4
./configure
or
./setup

But you shouldn't do the manual install just because apt does not work anymore. Now it is only warnings but it could develop into something far worse if not properly dealt with.
